Animals is an experimental program to demonstrate the capabilities of and design issues related to the Open Mind Initiative. It is a simple game in which the current player thinks of an animal and the computer tries to guess it. The computer is allowed to ask the player a series of yes/no questions (e.g., Does it bark?) and the player has to answer them truthfully. If the computer cannot guess the answer correctly, it would ask the player to "teach" it by telling it the name of the animal and a question to distinguish that animal from the computer's guess. As more players participate, the computer will hopefully learn a database of all animals and the necessary questions to distinguish them.
